Are We Able to Match Non Sport-Specific Strength Training with Endurance Sports? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis to Plan the Best Training Programs for Endurance Athletes

چکیده

Non-sport-specific strength training is a way to increase endurance performance; however, which kind of exercise (maximal, plyometric, explosive or resistance training) gives the best results still under debate. Scientific publications were analyzed according PRISMA checklist and statement. The initial search yielded 500 studies, 17 included in this review using PEDro Scale. Maximal boosted ability express particularly cross-country skiing cycling, increasing performance, measured as decrease performance tests. In running, did not generate advantages, whereas plyometric led an improvement tests work economy. running it was possible compare different types non sport-specific one resulted methodology enhance performance. However, studies on other sports only investigated effects maximal training. It more effective (although study eligible inclusion criteria) cycling component triathlon and, by contrast, induced modest cyclists’ suggesting type would probably be effective. conclusion, each sport might optimize appropriate training, which, should studied individually.

Cardiac adaptation to training and decreased training loads in endurance athletes: a systematic review.

INTRODUCTION Changes in echocardiographic standard measurements as a consequence of training and detraining in elite or subelite athletes have not been comprehensively studied. METHODS We identified 200 potentially relevant studies from 1966 to June 2006 and eliminated 187 studies that did not fulfil the objectives of the study. We identified 13 studies with echocardiographic assessment of he...

Concurrent strength and endurance training. A review.

Concurrent strength and endurance training appears to inhibit strength development when compared with strength training alone. Our understanding of the nature of this inhibition and the mechanisms responsible for it is limited at present. This is due to the difficulties associated with comparing results of studies which differ markedly in a number of design factors, including the mode, frequenc...

Molecular responses to strength and endurance training: are they incompatible?

Simultaneously training for both strength and endurance results in a compromised adaptation, compared with training for either exercise mode alone. This has been variously described as the concurrent training effect or the interference effect. It now appears that the genetic and molecular mechanisms of adaptation induced by resistance- and endurance-based training are distinct, with each mode o...

Maximum Strength and Strength Training— A Relationship to Endurance?

M ost coaches and athletes would argue that endurance is a factor that can affect sports performance. However, definitions of endurance vary from sport to sport. For this discussion, endurance is defined as the ability to maintain or repeat a given force or power output. Although explaining the performance–strength relationship in sports is a multi-factorial concept, evidence indicates that max...

The effect of strength training on performance in endurance athletes.

BACKGROUND Economy, velocity/power at maximal oxygen uptake ([Formula: see text]) and endurance-specific muscle power tests (i.e. maximal anaerobic running velocity; vMART), are now thought to be the best performance predictors in elite endurance athletes. In addition to cardiovascular function, these key performance indicators are believed to be partly dictated by the neuromuscular system. One...
